Date: Saturday, March 8, 2008 Start Times: 8:00 am for 10k Run and Walk; 7:50 am for Wheelchairs Where: Downtown Houston: Start on Louisiana Street near McKinney Street. Finish is on Walker Street by Houston City Hall. Distance: 10 Kilometers (6.2 miles) Course: Certified by Road Running Technical Council of USATF TX04001ETM. The course starts and finishes downtown with a loop on scenic Memorial Drive along Buffalo Bayou. Fast, flat and fantastic! Get course map HERE. Entry Fees: Packet Pick-Up & Late Registration:
Course Time Limit: The finish line will be open for 2 hours and 30 minutes (a 24 minute per mile pace). The course will re-open to traffic at the following time periods (hours:minutes):
Mile 2 - 0:48 Mile 3 - 1:12 Shepherd Turn-Around - 1:24 Mile 4 - 1:37 Mile 5 - 2:07 Mile 6 - 2:24 Finish Line - 2:30 (10:30 am) Water Stations: Water and/or Powerade will be available at the Start, the Finish and periodically along the course. Medical: Qualified EMT personnel will be at the finish line and along the course. T-Shirts: All finishers will receive a FINISHER's T-shirt at the post-race party. Prizes and Awards: Awards will be based on gun time not chip time. Commemorative race posters will be awarded to the first 50 male and first 50 female FINISHERS. Cash Awards: Note...There will be no duplication of awards.
Age Groups: Awards will be given 3 deep in each of the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+ Wheelchair Competition: Push-rim chairs only! Wheelchair race will begin at 7:50 am. Awards to the first place male and female FINISHERS. Corporate CROC Cup: Unique traveling award presented to the corporation with the largest number of participants entered in the event.Remembers walkers are encouraged! Congratulations to our current CROC holder, HEWITT & ASSOCIATES. Individual Costumes: One award in each category... Centipedes: A centipede team must consist of at least six attached runners. Each centipede team member must register as an individual in the 10k run or walk. On race morning, prior to the start, please have the entire centipede team CHECK-IN at the VIC tent near the ChampionChip pickup area. One award will be given in each of the following categories: Race Scoring: Scoring will be done by ChampionChip. You will not be an official finisher if you do not wear the chip on your shoe. Give yourself plenty of time to pick up your chip, in person, on race morning near the start line. Return your chip at the finish line or you will be assessed a $35 replacement fee. If you own your own chip, please provide your chip number to race officials at packet pickup and follow-up on race morning to insure that your chip number is in the system! Wear only the chip assigned to your race registration number. Never wear two chips on the same shoe. There will be no race day registration or race day packet pick up. Packet mailout will be available for entries that are received by February 14th with a $2 fee. No wheeled vehicles, including skates, will be allowed on the course. Proceeds from the HEB Bayou City Classic 10K go toward helping maintain and develop trails for running and walking in our city parks.
